About

How would you handle an urgent turnaround, or a wave of resignations in your team? Command Crossroads lets participants find out in a safe, engaging setting, through a game about leading people.

At the outset, each participant is given a game character with its own personality, who accompanies them throughout the journey. In every challenge, the aim is to choose the best possible course of action and earn points.

Twelve challenges are available, covering situations such as urgent turnarounds, staff turnover, communication breakdowns and organisational change. For each, players picture the context, read between the lines, weigh the advantages and disadvantages, and decide how to act.

The challenges arrive in quick succession. Important issues demand prompt yet careful handling, people look to the leader for direction and the clock never stops. It is particularly well suited to leadership retreats and management development days.

Learning outcomes

By working through realistic scenarios, participants become more aware of their own leadership style and how it influences team climate and results.

They see why different approaches are needed to inspire, engage and motivate different people, and practise choosing the right approach for each situation. Hearing how peers would respond to the same dilemma opens new options and challenges assumptions.

The game also helps colleagues identify the areas they most wish to develop. It suits anyone who currently leads people or aspires to do so.

Through discussion and the game's interactive format, participants gain a clearer view of where they stand and many opportunities to practise communication, collaboration, active listening, persuasion and consultation. Many leave with a short list of actions to try with their own teams.
