About

Storm Survival Camp begins at a team training centre, where everyone learns practical survival skills that could prove useful when severe weather strikes.

Using an app, teams learn, practise and compete in face-to-face challenges through trivia, photo and video tasks. Zones cover Navigation, Shelter, Knots, Fire, Animal Awareness, Water Filtration, Signalling, First Aid and Food, and there are more zones than any single team can complete.

Then the alert sounds. A powerful storm will reach the region in just 30 minutes and could last for weeks.

To survive, every team must now work as one group, putting its new skills to the test to unlock a box of real survival tools. The final challenges include target accuracy, a first aid stretcher race, decoding Morse code and building a shelter. The team that plays together survives together.

Learning outcomes

Storm Survival Camp is designed to bring colleagues together face to face. Its escape-style finale encourages teams to delegate roles and talk openly about strengths and gaps. No one survives alone, and that becomes clear very quickly.

With too many zones for one team to cover, groups must decide where to focus and who does what. Teams solve problems and perform under time pressure in an enjoyable, low-risk setting.

Because the zones teach genuine basic survival skills, everyone leaves knowing more than when they arrived, from tying knots to signalling for help.

The immersive theme prompts storytelling about past adventures, helping colleagues get to know each other on a new and genuine level. It is an excellent fit for retreats and leadership offsites.
