About

Golf has long been a favourite setting for business networking. Mini Golf Makers reinvents it as a playful, hands-on activity that everyone can enjoy, whatever their handicap, while giving something back.

Teams design and build a challenging mini golf course, largely from tinned and dry food items. The rule is simple: every hole must be enjoyable, challenging and different from all the others.

Each team also designs and builds its own putter, which it uses in the closing tournament as players work round the course hole by hole and keep score. Stacked tins become ramps, boxes turn into tunnels and packets become walls.

After the event, all the food is donated to a local charity of your choice. Participants can bring food for the donation, or items can be supplied to match your giving budget.

Learning outcomes

Mini Golf Makers is a high-energy activity that involves everyone, from answering challenge questions and designing holes to building the course and trying their luck on the green.

It encourages creativity and ingenuity as teams find clever ways to turn everyday groceries into tricky yet fair obstacles.

Communication and project management come to the fore as teams plan the course, divide the building work and ensure every hole is ready for the tournament. Teams that agree a theme early tend to build the most impressive courses.

Most importantly, people enjoy themselves and feel good about giving back. Knowing that every tin and packet will help someone in need adds real meaning to the day, and teams leave proud of what they achieved together.
