Roman Racer Build
Engineer a chariot fit for the arena, then race it for glory.

About
Roman Racer Build gives each team a self-assembly kit, a set of plans and a bold objective: create a full-size Roman or Celtic chariot that genuinely moves.
The chariot is made from cardboard, yet it has to withstand the rigours of race day, with human power and sound engineering working together.
Teams share out the work, keep the build on schedule and then let their creativity loose on the decoration, giving their chariot a look that stands out. Team names, colours and rallying cries all add to the fun.
The finale is either a race, in which chariots compete in a test of speed and skill, or a gladiator-themed parade with a lively arena atmosphere. Either way, it is loud, colourful and full of team spirit.
Learning outcomes
Building a chariot demands clear communication, collaboration and good team dynamics. Teams must plan carefully and work together to finish within a tight timeframe. Good teams agree roles before the first cut is made.
Allocating tasks wisely keeps everyone involved and helps the team progress quickly from a pile of parts to a working vehicle. When something does not fit first time, quick thinking and a calm head keep the build on track.
Decorating the chariot draws out creativity and gives every member a chance to contribute ideas. It is often the most photographed moment of the day.
The race adds healthy competition and a shared memory that teams discuss long after the event, showing how planning, coordination and a little courage turn an ambitious goal into a real result.
