Samba Rhythm Circle

About

There are few better ways to unite a large group than a shared rhythm. Samba Rhythm Circle uses the infectious beats of Brazilian samba to turn your delegates into one giant percussion band, with every person playing their part precisely on cue.

Professional musicians begin by working with small groups, teaching the basic beats and breaks of samba through quick, enjoyable rhythm warm-ups.

Before long, each group moves on to real percussion instruments, learning its own instrument and rhythm. As confidence builds and the playing tightens, the sections come together to rehearse a spectacular grand finale.

Nobody watches from the side. Even the most reserved colleagues are soon smiling as they stamp, clap and drum alongside everyone else, and the room discovers what a team sounds like when it moves as one.

Learning outcomes

A great samba finale is built from many layers playing side by side, much like a well-run organisation. Each section keeps its own rhythm, yet the music only works when every part fits together.

The programme shows how shared timing and standards lead to consistently excellent results. When every person and section delivers on its role, the whole band succeeds, and the outcome is far greater than any individual contribution.

Performing in front of colleagues builds courage and confidence, while the concentration needed to stay on the beat brings a genuine sense of presence and mindfulness.

Groups wishing to go further can extend the experience into a community initiative, such as a sponsored samba band performing for a local children's hospital ward or care home.
