Located in the north central of Vietnam is Thanh Hoa Province. It is surrounded by Son La, Hoa Binh and Ninh Binh Provinces in the North, Nghe An Province in the South, East Sea on the East with the coastline of 102km, and shares the borders with Laos on the West.
Plain, costal and mountainous regions make Thanh Hoa’s topography, of which hilly and mountainous occupy three quarters of the total area. Abundant resources of forest products and huge hydroelectric potentials are on the West, and the plain ranks the third largest one of Vietnam.
With 3,680.4 thousand people (2006) living the in total area of 11,136.3 square km, Thanh Hoa Administration is divided into 02 towns: Sam Son, Bim Son and 24 districts: Muong Lat, Quan Hoa, Quan Son, Ba Thuoc, Cam Thuy, Lang Chanh, Thach Thanh, Ngoc Lac, Thuong Xuan, Nhu Xuan, Nhu Thanh, Vinh Loc, Ha Trung, Nga Son, Yen Dinh, Tho Xuan, Hau Loc, Thieu Hoa, Hoang Hoa, Dong Son, Trieu Son, Quang Xuong, Nong Cong, Tinh Gia.
Cool climate and high rainfall bring the average temperature of 24.5ºC to this province. The weather is divided into two main seasons: dry season and rainy season, in which rainy season lasts from June to October of a year.
Thanks to the topography of hills, mountains, forest and coastal plain, Thanh Hoa province has great potentials for developing tourism with many famous places such as Sam Son beach, Hai Tien resort (Hoang Hoa), Hai Hoa (Tinh Family), Ben En National Park. Additionally, the advantages of transportation and hospitality of Thanh Hoa people are also factors attracting a lot of visitors inbound and outbound.
